Technology: There's An App For That....

It seems that society as a whole is becoming more and more reliant on technology to function.  Not only in business, but in our day to day living as well. While I see both pros and cons in "techlife" becoming so prevalent, there are certainly many aspects that allow us to multi-task, keep track of very busy schedules, find and keep in touch with friends and family and even organize your wardrobe and find a parking space!

There are so many apps out there and so many new one being released it's hard to keep track of them.  Here are a few applications for iPhone and/or Android use that caught my eye.

Fashion:

Stylebook - Stylebook is an app that catalogs your wardrobe. After taking a photo of each item, use the app to create outfit combinations, ala' Polyvore, and save for future reference. You can even create packing list for travel and seek cleaning and care of your items. Pretty handy if I may say so myself.

Shopkick - You can earn points by checking in at any of the over 7,000 stores in the network and extra bonus points when you make a purchase. You can use these bonus points for gift cards or credit to shop some more! A win-win situation if I ever heard one!

Beauty:

Mirror:  This free app will turn your smartphone into a mirror for those quick "anything on my face or in my teeth" checks before you meet and greet.  Always best to make sure you don't have food stuck between your teeth or crumbs on your face while you are smiling away, right? LOL!  Not only does it transform your phone into a mirror, it also has exposure control, zoom and freeze frame capabilities.  Can't beat that!

Convenience & Lifestyle:

Evernote:  With Evernote, all of your notes, web clips, files and images are made available on every device and computer you use. Save everything cool and exciting you see online and in the real world. Snap a photo, record some audio and save it. Share your notes and collaborate on projects with friends, colleagues and classmates.

Self-Control:  You know you should be doing something else, but can't stop checking Facebook? There's an app for that! Self-control blocks access to specified websites for a set time period. Hey, some of you know you need this, and every little bit helps, right? I can't with their icon, though. Are they pirates? LOL! I would prefer a computer screen with a circle-slash combo. The universal sign for stop and not so extra dramatic. :-)

Spot Check:  One of the worst things in the world is not being able to find a parking space. With the shopping/travel/annual Walmart assaults of parking spaces coming up, this app (along with your handy pepper spray disguised as a lipstick) might help you in your time of need.

Spot Check is a free app for iOS and Android that claims to help you "avoid going in circles by allowing you to pick your parking spot ahead of time." It also is supposed to guide you to the cheapest, convenient parking facilities in the city you happen to be in. I have not tried this one out, but if it does what it claims, this is something I would gladly pay a few bucks for. Wouldn't you? Follow my blog with Bloglovin
